New Element has been discovered!

Scientists in Utica searching for evidence of dinosaurs and bigfoot have discovered a new element for the periodic table. Most people wouldn't find this that interesting, but, the element was found on my property! I was having my scientist friends, Alan, Ellie, and Ian over for some tea and they, being the paleontologists they are, decided to go for a dig. When Alan found a couple bones I was less than impressed. But Ellie, the paleobotanist of the trio, found that the soil was of nothing she had seen before. A few (26.5) feet down into my yard, there was this strange material, a sand of which nobody knew. A few glances were passed and it was tested for anything. It was composed of an element no man had seen before. They, being generous, said "You name it, it was in your backyard." I insisted they name it, I mean having discovered it it would only be fair. I did end up naming it. Putting my blog on the map, Phillyphanium was published. I do love a good story, afterward Ian was killed in an awful accident when he was on vacation in Costa Rica. It was in the news. That was a good tale, a classic if you will. They said they wanted to make a movie of it. I said, "If so, get me George Lucas."

Detroit:
Tomas Tatar - He probably wont make the team this year, but did you see him at the world juniors?

Good internationally.

Edmonton:Take yer pick - Hall, Eberle, Paajarvi. Also, AHL king, Alex Giroux is now out of Hershey and in Oklahoma City (a ploy?).

The trio looks to do damage to the Northeast.

Florida:
Michal Repik - shows great promise.

Chose to sign with a team in the Czech Republic. Wait a minute?

Los Angeles:
Braydon Schenn - Great playmaker and awesome awareness in his own zone.

Younger brother of Toronto's Luke.

Minnesota:
Casey Wellman - Not a great Calder city if you know what I mean.

As you can tell by my lack of capitalization on the title, I'm depressed. Zistle makes me sad, and G-mail is stupid because you can't just make an account, you have to have an existing one. That makes no sense at all.

At least I have some Skynyrd to keep me happy. Big news coming up concerning false news...

Carolina:
Bobby Sanguinetti - Became #1 when Boychuk was put down again.

Chicago:
Kyle Beach - 52 goals, 86 points in 68 games with Spokane. 7 playoff goals in 7 WHL games, while 3 playoff goals in 4 AHL games.

Colby Cohen - I'm bitter because USA World Juniors star Shattenkirk has been sent to the AHL.

Cohen with the hardware that you get when you go to college in Massachusetts.

Columbus:
Nikita Filatov - 21 games. Is he still considered a rookie?

Filatov is gonna get big. Ability-wise.

Dallas:
Philip Larsen - Danish D-man. that's it.

Danish D-man would make a nice nickname. Maybe not.

Let's Talk Rookies.

So this years rookie class is lead by Taylor Hall, the #1 pick in the 2010 draft. I'm gonna talk about 5 rookies to look out for this year everytime there is nothing else to post about.

Anaheim:
Luca Sbisa, D - should be a name Flyer fans know. He looked good for Philly in 08-09.

Atlanta:
Arturs Kulda, D - +47 with Chicago Wolves last year while throwing in 25 points in just 66 games.

Kulda has a hammer too.

Boston:
Tyler Seguin, C - obviously the Bruins top rookie choice, after him is Zach Hamill.

Seguin was a dominant force in the OHL last year.

Buffalo:
Tyler Ennis, C - scored 9 points with Buffalo in 10 games last year. Named AHL Rookie of the Year.

Calgary:
Tim Erixon, D - son of Jan, and solid defenseman.

So apparently, facing the ultimate do-or-die situation didn't do it for the Flyers.

Facing the end of their season Claude Giroux helped the Flyers over the Rangers. That started a great playoff run the Flyers haven't seen in 13 years. Ohhhh, so they keep going to shootout so they have a rockin' season. That doesn't cut it for me. We're gonna need better goalies if we're gonna keep going into sudden death. Leighton and Boucher are okay and each had a superlative playoff, but Boucher has had problems in the past and Mike has never played more than 34 games in a season. His career save% is too low and his career GAA is too high.
I don't want to disrespect my goalies, but hopefully we don't have to see another season closer like last season.

Finally!!!

The Flyers pre-season kicks-off tonight on the NHL Network USA. During the first period the broadasters, Coatesy, Jones, and Jackson (the latter of which was born in upstate NY, graduated from SU, broadcasted for the Utica Devils) had their normal banter back for the 10-11 season. Jackson mentioned Clinton, NY native Nick Palmieri as he had an early chance.
